My story
Hello! I'm a commercial photographer and journalist with a deep-rooted passion for dogs. For the past decade, I've been incredibly fortunate to combine my love for photography, writing, and canine companions by working with dog rescue groups across the globe. My journey has taken me to places like Haiti, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Mexico, Spain, and even amidst the heart-wrenching backdrop of war-torn Ukraine, where I've helped rescue dogs from dire situations.
My commitment to these animals goes beyond the lens; I've also contributed articles for Dogster Magazine and Modern Dog Magazine, sharing stories that raise awareness and inspire others to take action. Dogs have been an integral part of my life since childhood, but it was my first adult dog, Rio, who deepened my bond with these incredible creatures. Rio was my steadfast companion for 12 years, and when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of eight, we embarked on a challenging yet inspiring journey. Through chemo, radiation, surgeries, and experimental treatments, we fought side by side, and he bravely outlived his prognosis by three years.
Today, my new furry friend is Mia, a spirited one-year-old Husky-German Shepherd mix who has brought renewed joy into my life. Inspired by my experiences and the desire to create something meaningful locally, I've launched a passion project—a dog portrait business. This venture allows me to provide other dog owners with high-quality, timeless images of their beloved pets. I firmly believe that dogs are family, and capturing their essence in a photo is a powerful way to tell their story and preserve our memories with them.
The photo shoots are not just about the end result; they're also about the fun and bonding experience for the dogs, which is something I truly cherish. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to meet all of you and your four-legged family members, to share in the love you have for them, and to help tell their stories through my photography.
Sincerely,
Alan De Herrera
